Exactly 70 years ago, in September 1953, an extraordinary event left an indelible mark on the academic landscape of the Canadian capital: the birth of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. The history of the Civil Law Section at the University of Ottawa is punctuated with remarkable figures, including eminent professors, 13 visionary deans, and generations of students from all regions of Quebec and beyond who have infused the law school with a friendly and energetic atmosphere.
The past year has been a rich one for the Jurivision team and all of its valued contributors. In this post, we review some of the highlights of the past twelve months. This second year of the Jurivision experience has seen the publication of nearly thirty visual posts and three visual courses. These visual publications have been consulted by more than 20,000 Internet users around the world over the past twelve months.
In an effort to contribute to the revitalization of Indigenous legal orders and provide a more respectful welcome to Indigenous learners on an academic path in law, the University of Ottawa’s Civil Law Section has launched a new Certificate in Indigenous Law.
