2023 was a successful year for Jurivision. The audiovisual law platform consolidated its leading role in Canada in the dissemination of legal knowledge, having been consulted nearly 25,000 times by Internet users from all over the world. An initiative of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, Jurivision brings together a multidisciplinary team of jurists and multimedia creators who experiment with different modes of visual and digital communication. <\/p>\n\n
Over the past 12 months, Jurivision has published more than 25 visual posts. The role of state lawyers, <\/span>international commercial law<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>indigenous legal orders<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>the legal status of animals<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>the fight against food waste<\/span><\/a>: its contributors have tackled a wide variety of subjects in an engaging and educational way.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n Moreover, for the third year running, law students produced their own video vignettes as part of the visual advocacy, law and Film course.They examined current legal issues such as transgender athletes in sports, family mediation and access to abortion in the context of Canadian federalism. Many learners also took one of the visual courses available on the platform, including one on the Canadian legislative and regulatory process (in French only).<\/p>\n\n Jurivision also pursued its collaboration with numerous academic partners, including a range of researchers from the Faculty of Law’s civil law and common law sections, and practicing lawyers. The platform featured initiatives on <\/span>artificial intelligence law<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>legal technologies<\/span><\/a> and the <\/span>45th anniversary celebrations of the Fondation du Barreau du Qu\u00e9bec<\/span><\/a>. Jurivision also marked the <\/span>70th anniversary of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law<\/span><\/a> with an engaging historical review that generated widespread interest within the Canadian legal community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n 2024 promises to be even more exciting, as the Jurivision team has expanded to develop new innovative projects. The team is working on major projects to create a multimedia learning experience for the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada in 2025. Jurivision is also continuing its work with learners in the Native law diploma program to showcase knowledge from indigenous legal orders as part of the Wapanakew project, whose website will be unveiled in the next year. <\/p>\n\n
