Constitutionalism

Constitutionalism is based on the principle that the Constitution is the supreme source of law and that any governmental, legislative or judicial action must conform to its requirements. The principle of constitutionalism requires that the actions of these institutions be consistent with the Constitution. 

Canadian Federalism and the Division of Powers   

Canada is a federal state; the federal, provincial and territorial governments share the powers to govern and legislate. These powers are set out in Articles 91 and 92of the Constitution Act, 1867. The Constitutional Act of 1867.
